For all the things I have shared and will share with my child over the years, there are still a few that will never happen.
- The joy of being the oldest sibling.
- Thanksgiving dinner at grandma Jones where there were to many of us to fit at one table.
- Having cousins that feel more like siblings.
- Christmas with our loud ass family. (I didn't say extended, because the word did not apply as I was growing up... we were just family).
- Camp outs at the farm.
- Grampy giving advice.
- Looking to the aunts, because they all brought their own something special to the table.
- Knowing that when you needed help, someone would respond because there were enough of us to lean on.
I'm not sure when our family stopped participating in each other's lives....but I grieve for my child and my cousins children, that they will never know what our family use to be.
